Contracts with Class I Railroads

As a true Intermodal Marketing Company (IMC), we hold exclusive contracts with all Class I railroads, providing you with unparalleled access and reliability. We are 1 out of only 37 companies holding contracts directly with the Class I railroads, and only 1 of 18 that are non-asset. Knichel is an extension of the railroads.

Door-to-Door Service with Drayage

Our door-to-door service ensures your freight is handled with precision from origin to destination, including drayage services for smooth transitions. Knichel has you covered for cross-border services into Canada and Mexico as well.

Expansive North American Rail Network

Leverage our extensive rail network across North America for reliable and timely delivery of your intermodal shipments. Our partnerships with the Union Pacific Railroad, Canadian National and CPKCS gives our shippers access to efficient cross-border services between Mexico, the U.S. and Canadian markets. We also work closely with CSX, NS and BNSF railroads for domestic rail service.

What is an IMC?

IMC stands for “Intermodal Marketing Company” and the most simplistic explanation of an IMC means they can manage each leg of the shipment’s journey. An IMC will make an agreement with the drayage carriers, railroads and container owners to provide the end customer with a seamless door to door move and rate. We have a lease on the equipment thus placing us as close to an asset provider as possible. With only a handful of true IMC’s in the industry, Knichel is a long standing women owned business that brings sustainability, capacity, solutions and price to your supply chain.
